About the Addiction Science Team
The Addiction Science Team of the University of Missouri-St. Louis is a collaborative team between Missouri Institute of Mental Health (MIMH) and Department of Psychology Substance Use Research Group (SURG). We are a team focused on supporting individuals who use drugs through program design, research, evaluation, capacity-building and training.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote effective, compassionate responses to substance use by distributing life-saving harm reduction supplies, delivering innovative and accessible training and education, and advancing research to inform responsive, evidence-based policies and practices across the continuum of prevention, treatment, and recovery.
Our Values
We envision a Missouri where people who use drugs are healthy and supported within their communities through rapid access to meaningful, high-quality services and supports, the ability to easily navigate a variety of paths to wellness, and freedom from preventable illness and death.
